Center for Hellenic Music and Culture
Our Mission
The Center for Hellenic Music and Culture, a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation, is devoted to the preservation, promotion, and expansive dissemination of the profound artistic and cultural achievements of Hellenic music, dance, poetry, and heritage, spanning from antiquity to the present day.
The Center’s vision is to safeguard Greece’s cultural legacy and collective memory, while simultaneously shaping the future of Hellenic artistic expression across North America and beyond. This vision is realized through:
- Creating archives that ensure the preservation of Greece’s rich musical and cultural heritage.
- Conducting research, documentation, cataloging, digitization, and restoration of invaluable musical, dance, poetic, and cultural traditions that risk being lost to time.
- Disseminating collected materials on a global scale through digital and print publications, media productions, exhibitions, concerts, workshops, and unique interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Curating pioneering multimedia performances that faithfully embody the stylistic intricacies, historical authenticity, and artistic excellence of Hellenic music and dance across the ages.
- Exploring new artistic avenues that reimagine and reinterpret Greece’s cultural history through fresh, and innovative representations.
The Center for Hellenic Music and Culture was founded on the conviction that preserving, celebrating, and showcasing cultural heritage is paramount to safeguarding Greek ethnic and cultural identity—both within Greece and throughout the global diaspora—in the 21st century and beyond. Ultimately, the Center’s mission is to preserve and transmit Hellenic cultural memory, ensuring that its invaluable legacy remains vibrant for future generations.
